What is the project about: We are looking for volunteers interested in helping to work on a growing cow farm? It’s a project only for agricultural students wishing to see first-hand how farms are run in a different country. You will spend the day working alongside the owners & staff looking after the day to day running of the animals.  Also there will be time to experience the other side of farming in Nepal on one of the small holdings that rural people survive on. It’s a physical placement so please remember that you can rest, take the day off if needed and experience rural Nepal at its best.

Placement Location: The farm is situated need Sauraha the tourist town of Chitwan.

Start and End Dates: Ongoing starting most weeks except for festivals. Note you can still volunteer in the festivals but there will not be a lot of work going on. Though it’s a good way to see how Nepali celebrates their culture & religion.

Working Days: Usually it’s a 6 day week with Saturday off (plus festivals)

Working Hours: Vary depending on the work load at the time but remember it’s a physical placement as a lot of the work is done by hand so take plenty of rests.

Food and Accommodation: You will be staying in the local homestays eating traditional Nepali dhal baht, (rice, curry, lentils) as well as fresh fruit growing at the time. Note Sauraha is only 30 minutes away so if you need a break for some western food it’s very easy to arrange.

Placement location: The farm is situated near the tourist town of Sauraha next to the Chitwan national park. It’s around 150 kms away from Kathmandu & takes between 6-12 hours by bus depending on the roads. Being next to the national park there are the chances to go on safari, elephant riding as well as other activities relating to this area. Also you have Sauraha within easy distance so western food, cold beer & traditional music shows are very close by.
